Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Specimens For Sale

The selenite balls from the Red River Floodway near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada have been around for awhile, normally in very limited quantities.  These clusters must rank as one of the most aesthetic forms for this common mineral.  They are gemmy and certainly displayable no matter what their size.  Most are composed of a central ball of smaller crystals with one or more larger blades which radiate from that nucleus.  The larger blades are often swallow-tail twins.  Small examples of these specimens are inexpensive while the larger pieces are often very costly.  I only choose those of the highest quality. They often probe for these in the clay with a wire coat hanger!  Any wonder they almost always have an ugly dig or two on their surfaces?  You will find these to be the finest of any available anywhere!  Most are from the collection of the field collector who has been liquidating his personal collection over the past several years.

OKL-947

OKL-947     Gypsum (variety Selenite)     Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  These recently acquired specimens (2015) are from the private collection of the field collector who has liquidated his best finds.  Each comes with a custom engraved acrylic base.  They view magnificently from any direction so can be placed on the base however you wish.  The large crystals are swallowtail twins, gemmy, amber in color and relatively free of flaws or inclusions (especially when compared to most material from this find). This example measures 11 cm wide and has five large twins.  One tiny tip rub that is in no way distracting, it has the highest luster possible for the species, and is simply impressive!  Comes with a custom engraved acrylic base.    $450

OKH-546

OKH-546     Gypsum (variety Selenite)     Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  I was able to obtain several of the finest Winnipeg gypsum specimens I have ever owned or seen at this years (2011) Tucson Mineral show.  I have owned and sold these specimens for almost 20 years.  Of the hundreds I've owned and many thousands I have inspected, these are truly the finest examples of these impressive crystal specimens.  No damage what-so-ever, even to the smallest of the crystals on this ball.  These almost always show some minor damage, so in this way alone this one is an exceptional specimen.  A nice example measuring 9.5 cm in diameter with exceptionally clear, larger blades that are not twinned.  A great specimen in-hand.  $225
