OKI-385 Celestine and Strontianite Meckley Quarry, Mandata, Northumberland Co., PA. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain Collection. The celestines on this one are coated, sometimes quite thick, by strontianite which is bright white in color. Damage free, minor contacts and good views from any direction. OKI-382 Celestine and Strontianite Meckley Quarry, Mandata, Northumberland Co., PA. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain Collection. I usually will not list these specimens because they are so common…but this one exceeds all previous standards I have witnessed for this locale. This miniature is a real looker! The photos should make clear that this is not the standard Meckley specimen. It measures 4.9 x 4.3 x 2.5 cm. The Celestine are gem and a nice blue color. The strontianite balls are bright white and created both a color and form contrast which is exceptional. Only damage is to one strontianite ball which is cleaved Very tiny and tough to make out). There are minor contacts but for the most part it views exceptionally well from various sides. 325$

OKF-705 Chalcopyrite, Pyrite, Magnetite and Byssolite French Creek Mines, St. Peter, Chester Co., PA. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection, circ. 1936. This is one of those old classic from a noteworthy east coast occurrence. This hefty piece of sphalerite matrix measures approx 8 cm wide and contains well formed magnetite crystals (small) and a network of large hoppered chalcopyrites. Their luster varies from very bright to dull and some areas have a good deal of irridecece. There are high luster pyrites in a few places. There is also some calcite which was not etched away when this piece was prepared for sale 70 plus years ago. It is thick and stable with well protected damage free crystal. It does not display especially well from the sides. A substantial piece from a classic locale. 195$

OKF-670 Pyrite French Creek Mine, St. Peters, Chester Co., PA. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection. This is a stunning 1979 specimen that probably looks as good as the day it was found. It is composed of intergrown crystals to 1.5 cm each. They have interesting rounded octahedral modifications and curved faces. The specimen measures 3.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm. There is no damage but the specimen is glued to a wood base with historical information in its bottom. A couple areas have sphalerite coating them. There appears to be no contacts. I’ve decided to leave the specimen on the base so the new owner can decide if they want to remove it. Very nice classic east coast specimen. 225$

OKI-004 Pyrite and Magnetite French Creek Mines, St. Peters, Chester Co., PA. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain Collection. This crystal cluster measures 3.3 x 3.2 x 3 cm and is a competition level pyrite thumbnail specimen. It displays well looking far larger than it actually is. The luster is nice, zero damage and an interesting form which I’m actually unsure of. Only minor magnetite. This is a classic east coast locality which is known for its pyrites and one can see why when viewing this fine example. 300$

I am at an absolute loss to try and describe the crystallography of this unique crystal. I have never seen anything like it! I’ll have to let the photos do that….it does however measure 2.9 cm long, have a nice luster and basil attachments with no damage. Very cool for anyone interested in a mineralogical mystery. 130$
