New Jersey Mineral Specimens For Sale

Stilbite on Quartz                                                  Chabazite, Calcite, Quartz

The minerals of New Jersey often represent some of the finest specimens found in classic East Coast collections.  The trap rock quarry zeolites and related minerals are especially popular with collectors.  With most of these classic locations being closed to collecting we find that the majority of specimens we get from New Jersey are from collections we acquire.

OKO-409    Fluorapophyllite    Upper New Street Quarry, Paterson, Passaic, County, New Jersey.  E. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This is a single crystal that measures 1.5 x 1.1 x 1.1 cm on edge and has some matrix, as well.  It is damage-free and mounted nicely in a perky box.  The luster is good and it is a good quality example for the location.  $25

OKN-765     Chabazite, Calcite, Quartz     Paterson, New Jersey.  Ex. Paul and Dawne Dunning collection.  An attractive, three-dimentional piece with well formed, lustrous crystals of all the species.  One small quartz crystal missing otherwise in excellent condition.  6 x 4.2 x 3.8 cm.  A nice example of this popular material.  $30

OKO-189   Stilbite on Quartz Cast after Laumontite    Upper New Street Quarry Patterson, New Jersey.  Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection. SPECIMEN CATALOGE # 2 out of approximately 45,000 specimens in his collection!!!  I believe #1 is a prehnite from this location that he has retained for memory's sake.    Yes, the second specimen in this now famous collection.  It was acquired from Dottie Herman in 1961.  It is a fine, damage free example of this material with a 3.5 cm bowtie of amber colored stilbite sitting upright on a bed of white quartz casts after laumontite.  Classic material common in that day.  3.7 x 2.7 x 2 cm overall.  Very nice and very cool provenance.   $100

OKO-782       Pectolite       Prospect Park, Passaic County, New Jersey.  Ex. Harold L. Dibble.  Previous John Sinkankas collection.  6.6 x 5.1 x 3.1 cm.  Good views all around.  No damage.  Classic piece from a classic mineralogist (John).  $250

OKN-357    Calcite    Snake Hill, Secaucus, Hudson County, New Jersey.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Amber yellow colored, twinned crystals in a plate measuring 6 x 4 x 2.6 cm.  One large crystal has a minor tip rub as seen but otherwise in excellent condition.  Great transparency, form and luster.  Excellent mix of crystal sized and nice aesthetics.  $60

OKM-985     Magnetite       Snake Hill, New Jersey.  Ex. Harold L. Dibble collection.  A fine octahedral crystal that has the typical surface complexity notable of the area.  Embedded in matrix with a smaller crystal.  It is complete and damage free.  The big crystal measures 1.5 cm on edge and the piece measures 4.8 x 3 x 2.4 cm.  Difficult to find in good specimens like this one.  $80

OKM-986    Willemite     Parker Shaft, Franklin, New Jersey.  Ex. Harold L. Dibble collection.  Prev. Caswell specimen (an important classic collection).  A nice highly fluorescent rock with a fine historic provenance (includes original tag) 5.5 x 5 x 2.6 cm.  $60

OKK-219     Prehnite on Datolite    New Jersey.  Paul and Dawne Dunning collection.  Sorry, no specific quarry given.  Wonderful piece however.  Very translucent balls of datolite to 2.8 cm each.  The datolite are gemmy and clear.  5.4 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm overall.  Zero damage and fantastic aesthetics.  A superior, classic miniature for only $85

OKK-581    Heulandite, Calcite, Quartz     Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.  Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Blocky, mostly lusterous heulandite crystal averaging .5 to 1 cm in size dominate the specimens display face.  Back is dominated by calcite.  Likely an old specimen, acquired by Steve in 1961.  It is specimen # 388 in his 45,000 specimen collection.  13.8 x 5.6 x 4 cm.  Display face is in good condition with an occasional scuffed crystal to be found when looked over with 10x.  Displays clean to the eye for damage but desperately needs cleaning.  Fluorescent.  Excellent old timer.  $150
