Siderites and other Minerals
Here are some great pieces from a classic find at the Poudrette Quarry at Mount
Saint-Hilaire. This pocket was described as being "house sized".
OKC-001 Siderite, Calcite and Albite Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire,
Quebec, Canada. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain Collection, Acquired from National
Museums of Canada, 1986, Louis Moyd Collector, 1960 (historic siderite
pocket). This is the top piece from the collection. Superb display piece with
one big siderite over 6 cm on edge with great surface features exhibiting a
stair step like appearance. A wonderful ball of calcite crystals, over 2 cm
rests on one face. One side coated by sprays of tiny white albites. No back
view, it is cleaved, but it doesn’t need one! Museum quality specimen.
Important specimen. Great display piece worthy of a top St. Hilaire

OKC-002 Siderite, Calcite, Albite and Sanadine Poudrette Quarry, Mont
Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain Collection, Acquired

siderite pocket). This is a representative specimen with all the minerals but
not very displayable. 90$
OKC-003 Siderite and Albite Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec,

display piece with fully formed siderites to 4.5 cm on edge embedded in Feldspar
matrix. Smaller siderites are translucent. Very displayable 9 cm cluster with
well exposed crystals. Backside has one crystal with a couple tiny cleaves but
this should never show. Coatings are calcite crystals. Attractive surface
features on the siderites give them character. Very nice specimen. 350$

siderite pocket). Nice display piece with fully formed siderites to 3 cm on
edge embedded in feldspar and sanadine matrix. Matrix is coated by aesthetic
sprays of albite crystals and light green botryoidal calcite. Big sanadine
crystals to 5 cm each. Smaller siderites are translucent. Healed surfaces are
coated by tiny siderites and calcites. Great piece worthy of a top St. Hilaire

main siderite and others with tiny clusters of bright white calcites. Euhedral
crystals in a compact cluster believe the main crystal here is twinned. Stands
up nicely for display. Attractive specimen. 275$

specimen which displays well. Stands up nicely with several branches of
crystals showing an aesthetic form. All crystals are tiny. 200$

gracing its display face. Beside these are some white, double terminated blades
