OKF-387 Fluorapatite “The Phosphate Trench”, Powers Farm, Pierrepont, New York. Collected by Michael Walter, Summer 2008. This is a far better than normal example of the species for the locality. Until this summer crystals such as this were virtually unknown at Powers Farm. This one measures 3.2 cm and has a single pinicoid termination. There is a tiny rider crystal on one side of the specimen and piece has a slight curve in its shape. Excellent luster in form with zero damage. $55

OKF-390 Quartz pseudomorph after Mica “The Phosphate Trench”, Powers Farm, Pierrepont, New York. Collected by Michael Walter, Summer 2008. These are the unusual find of the summer. While low on aesthetics these specimens are more than unusual. I am unaware of this form of pseudomorph from anywhere else in the world, and before this summer they were unknown at Powers Farm. The mica books have their layers pulled apart due to some unknown force. Later their structure was completely replaced by quartz. Specimens are very stable, light in density and sometimes coated by secondary quartz. This specimen is a grouping of two crystals the largest of which is 4.5 cm. Overall the specimen measures 5.5 x 3.9 x 2.8 cm and is damage free. There were not many of these crystals found, and most have already sold off-line. If you have any interest in unusual minerals were pseudomorphs this could be the specimen for you. $110

OKF-393 Microcline and Chlorite pseudomorph after Fluorapatite “The Phosphate Trench”, Powers Farm, Pierrepont, New York. Collected by Michael Walter, Summer 2008. These are the second unusual find of the summer. I am unaware of this form of pseudomorph from anywhere else in the world, and before this summer they were unknown at Powers Farm. The analysis of these crystals was done by doctors Steve Chamberlain and David Bailey at Hamilton College. This specimen shows small groupings double terminated crystals on both ends of a crudely formed 4.2 cm quartz crystal. The crystals are up to 1 cm each and are mostly doubly terminated. The piece has minor in-situe damage but is in nice shape overall. A good example of this rare pseudomorph. $45
