Zinc Corp. of America Mines Mineral Specimens,

Pierrepont, St. Lawrence County, New York For Sale

                 Sphalerite                                                           Pyrite

The mine in Pierrepont (actually West Pierrepont) has been closed and is now under reclamation.  The entire sphalerite ore body was mined out producing, what at the time, was the world's highest grade zinc ore at 17.5%.  It also contained very substantial quantities of galena and silver.  Its most notable production of collector grade mineral specimens were the pyrite balls recovered from the Grange ore body.  Lesser known are the fine yellow, amber, and dark brown colored sphalerites.
