Vanadinite from Mibladen, Morocco

                                                                                                                                                                      Vanadinite

Vanadinite from the Acif Vein, Mabladen, Tourist, Morocco is, by far, the best quality vanadinite available on the mineral market today.  There is little room for argument on this.  The best of the Moroccan material is a bright cherry red in color, exhibits flawless hexagonal form, good translucence to gemmyness and has a glassy luster.

Custom engraved acrylic base

OKI-733     Vanadinite     Upper Moulouya District, Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Milbaden, Kkenifra Prov., Morocco, Africa.  This is the nicest piece I found at Tucson this year.  Quite uncommon to find these top grade crystals on the darker matrix.  Together this makes this what I consider a specimen of the highest aesthetics.  Some might say the lighter colored barite matrix is more aesthetic but I will let the specimen pics speak for themselves.  The crystals on this fine piece are up to 1.2 cm in diameter.  Exceptionally high luster.  They are the brightest red you can find for this species from anywhere and they are translucent to gemmy.  The highest quality I have ever seen.  The piece is 6.4 x 4 x 2.7 cm.  Zero damage.  Largest crystals are perfectly positioned high on the piece and just to the right of center.  They really draw your eye to them.  Well worth the investment if you look for top quality examples in your collection.  850$

Barite...bottom?

OKI-734     Vanadinite and Barite   Upper Moulouya District, Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Milbaden, Kkenifra Prov., Morocco, Africa.  This piece has cherry red vanadinites to 1 cm each (most are smaller) all over white blades of barite.  The crystals sit up lightly, high up off the matrix.  The specimen measures  8 x 4.8 x 3.8 cm overall.  No damage to the vanadinites but a view blades of barite are clipped (it should probably sit on this side anyways).  The specimen only has contact on one edge so it displays well from almost any direction.  Very attractive, bright, colorful and aesthetic specimen.  275$

Back

OKI-737     Vanadinite     Upper Moulouya District, Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Milbaden, Kkenifra Prov., Morocco, Africa.  An impressive piece composed of big thick crystals to 1.5 cm in diameter, the best of which sit up high on the specimen.  The crystals are a rich red color and very translucent and gemmy in areas.  Front face is a killer…the back is cool too but totally coated with brown accessory.  One tiny missing crystal and rub on top of piece (not visible in frontal view).  Given the overall quality this minor issue is of little note.   It is an exceptional piece with the qualities which everyone seems to want: bright luster, fantastic form, great crystal balance and very clean.  Tough to find them this nice for less than 1,000$  This one is 950$
