Mineral Specimens For Sale From the Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa

One of the most recognizable species from Tsumeb is dioptase.  Specimens of dioptase are the finest known, exceeding those from the Congo and Kazakhstan in clarity and form.  Also, they commonly form in association with other species, most commonly calcite, creating a contrast in colors and forms.  A fine grouping of bright green Tsumeb dioptase on white calcite is one of the most aesthetic of all mineral combinations on earth.

Fowler collection.  An attractive piece of mixed colors measuring 6 x 4.2 x 3.2 cm.  Very asthetically layed out with nice contrasts of color between the light and deep greens on white.  Scattered amongst the crystals of dioptase are tiny clusters of white smithsonite crystals.  There is a patch of white calcite broken of in the central area of the piece, but still this should remain a desirable specimen.  A domical specimen which views great from any direction except back, which is just okay.  $600
