OKH-747

OKH-747     Cobaltoan Smithsonite       Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.   This is such a fine piece I will need to limit myself on its description… lets start with its being exceptionally large with large crystals that display nicely, some being stacked up high off the matrix.  The several huge crystals in the middle really get your attention!  They are of nice satin luster, fine form, and the color is a rich as these get.  The saturation makes it appear a raspberry color and it is consistently strong throughout the specimen.  The piece is somewhat elongated and it has edge contact with one being strong.  Amazingly it is damage free and very presentable.  11 x 6 x 5.3 cm.  Crystals to 2.5 cm each with most being exceptionally large for the species.  Exceptional.  Comes with custom engraved acrylic base.  Price on Request

OKH-746     Calcite       Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  This calcite cluster is intermixed with matrix and shows many fine, colored/ transparent, tabular crystals of calcite to 3.5 cm in diameter.  It measures 8.8 x 8 x 3.7 cm and stands on edge for display (although I don’t think this position is fully stable).  Attractive from all views, damage free and only one area of edge contact.  Exceptional condition and aesthetics for this material.  $395

OKH-745     Smithsonite       Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  Clear/ gemmy, very high luster crystals of smithsonite to 1.3 cm each coat this matrix specimen.  It measures 5.5 x 5 x 1.6 cm and shows a slight three dimensionality.  No damage.  Attractive and a bit unusually to see this degree of lack of color from a Tsumeb smithsonite.  $1,700

OKH-744

OKH-744     Smithsonite       Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  This small cabinet specimen has large, light yellow, well formed smithsonites.  There is no damage although the edges do have contact, as is to be expected.  The crystals are transparent to translucent and up to 1.4 cm each.  7 x 3.5 x 1.8 cm overall.  Base has some crystallization, actually most of it, but it is smaller, with this surface being slightly hollowed out.  Very nice!  $950

OKH-743

OKH-743     Cerussite on Smithsonite       Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  This small cabinet specimen shows clear to white cerussite crystals on large, light yellow smithsonites.  There is no damage and in the peripheral areas, along the edges, the white is crystallized cerussites, not breakage.  The edges do have contact, as is to be expected, but the specimen is very clean.  It measures in at 6.4 x 4.5 x 3 cm and has large crystal to 1.5 cm each.  The crystals are also quite transparent and exceptionally sharp in their form.  A fine piece in every regard.  $1,500

OKH-742      Primary Malachite on Calcite     Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. OKH-740

OKH-740      Primary Malachite on Calcite with Smithsonite       Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  An attractive, brightly colored display of malachite crystals in radiating balls of acicular crystals.  There might be micro damage in a spot or two but I believe the condition is very good.  5 x 4.5 x 3 cm with balls to well over a cm each.  The specimen is domical and views well form various directions.  The smithsonite forms creamy white balls of crystals in several clusters on the piece.  Very nice for malachite crystals!  $400

OKG-124

OKG-124    Calcite    Roncari Quarry (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford Co., Connecticut.   5.2 x 4 x 3 cm.  This is probably one of the finest calcites from the find!!  Gemmy throughout much of its body, included by hematite blades with many also on the surface.  It is very complex with numerous forms I am unfamiliar with.  No damage what so ever and a floater.  he luster is much better than the images indicate and as a whole the pictures can't do it justace.  It basically looks like an Indian calcite but way better!  And with all of that, it's also twinned!!  An expensive calcite...not really. $395
