OKAA-015

OKAA-015    Pyromorphite    Wheatley Mines, Phoenixville, Chester County, PA.   Ex. Nancy Collins collection.  This is an old timer from the period in which the mine was active (1861-1870).  Old collection # on back.  Provenance prior to Collins unknown, however.  It measures 3 x 2.5 x 2 cm overall with crystals to .7 cm.  The ball shaped specimen and aesthetic for one of these.  A small scrape on edge of one crystal can be seen in close-up view or with magnification.  Excellent condition, overall.  The crystals range from the typical green color to a brighter green and have good translucence.  The luster and form are better than most examples I have seen from this classic location.  Overall it ranks as the finest specimen of this size that I have seen from Phoenixville (and I have seen hundreds).  If pyromorphites or east coast classics are your thing you will find this to be an exceptionally and desirable piece.  $2,500
