OKAA-030

OKAA-030    Fluorite on Sphalerite  Cumberland Mine, Smith County, Tennessee.  This is a very fine domical example with cubes to approximately 1 cm each (most of the cubes are around the same size.  They are transparent, an attractive light purple/ blue color, and have curved edges.  They rest lightly on lustrous sphalerite and are wide spread.  The entire specimen measures 12.2 x 10 x 6 cm and is heavy and attractive.  It sits nicely for display and looks good from any direction.  One tiny dig on a very small fluorite will not be seen without magnification and a good search.  Displays damage free.  Nice specimen in all respects.  $290

OKAA-031    Tourmaline and Cut Stone    Minas Gerais, Brazil.  Ex. Nancy Collins collection.     A large tourmaline crystal measuring 9 x 4.7 x 4 cm.  Highly etched on its backside.  Double terminated with upper termination, pinnicoidal, being low in luster and lower termination being fibrous.  Prism of crystal has a nice luster and good translucence to a shallow depth.  The emerald cut faceted stone is well cut and flawless.  It is a rich green color similar to the crystal and custom engraved acrylic base.  $1,400

OKAA-032    Tourmaline    Nuistan Prov., Afghanistan.        The single terminated crystal seen here measures 5 x 2 x 1.7 cm.  It is pinker in person and a nice match to the stone than the images indicate.  The crystal appears more washed out in the images than it does in person.  It is the typical "bubble gum" pink looked for in this material.  Very tiny termination chip visible with magnification otherwise damage free.  Displays as damage free.  Very light blue phantom just below termination.  Very bright, beautifully cut, flawless, emerald cut stone, and custom engraved acrylic base.   $780

OKAA-044

OKAA-044    Calcite, Quartz, Hematite    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  This fine piece came from what was dubbed the "Halloween Pocket".  It measures 12 x 10 x 5.2 cm overall with calcites to 6.3 cm.  The largest calcite in the center of the specimen is double terminated.  Many small hematite halos on the calcites and some of the quartz.  The only damage is one calcite being cleaved and it is not distracting.  Nice contrasts, luster and interesting form to the calcites.  Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base but the piece stands well on its own in the same position without aid.  $625

OKAA-045

OKAA-045    Calcite    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  This is composed of two twinned crystals but the real noteworthy one is the large, double terminated crystal making up the bulk of the specimen.  The piece measures 8 x 5 x 4.9 cm.  The crystals are on a thin crust of matrix and it sits nicely without assistance.  The crystal is mostly clear internally but with its satin finish it is difficult to reflect this in the images.  Views nicely from all sides.  Damage free.  Crystals of this type were uncommon from the location.   Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  Excellent value.  $350

OKAA-046    Hematite on Quartz and Calcite    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.    This is definitely what a museum grade specimen from Connecticut looks like.  I hand it is a thing of beauty measuring 16 x 12.2 x 7.5.  It stands upright on its own and is amazingly aesthetic.   The calcites are the most common for the find however they are unusually large (to over 8 cm each) and have the satin luster with hematite included areas, also common to the find.  At a quarry such as this one that blasts, to see a specimen of this size without any notable damage is a rarity.  There are a couple very tiny marks but you will need to break out a lope and search for them.  It displays as damage free from any view, and every view is nice.   Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  This is a top New England specimen at a fraction of what specimens of this caliber normally sell for on today's mineral market.   Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  $2,400

OKAA-047

OKAA-047      Quartz and Calcite    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  This specimen is a baseball size and shaped piece that is the end of a stalactitic growth.  The coating of calcite crystals is on all sides except the base and the quartz points coat the majority on one side.  It measures 8.5 x 8 x 6.5 cm.  There are two tiny missing quartz points and a couple cleaved calcite... all of which you will have to search for to find.  Excellent quality!  Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  $400

OKAA-048

OKAA-048      Quartz and Calcite    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Another pocupine like specimen with high luster and aesthetics... The coating of calcite crystals is on all sides except the base and the quartz points coat all of the front display face of the specimen.  It measures 11.5 x 9.4 x 7 cm.  There are two tiny missing quartz points with only one being visible to the eye and not at all distracting.  There is some rubbing tot he calcite on the back.  Again, excellent quality.  Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  $550

OKAA-049

OKAA-049    Calcite on Quartz Casts after Anhydrite    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  This type of specimen is what will eventually lead to the material from this quarry being a classic.  The quartz making the casts after anhydrite are larger and hematite coating, creating a wonderful contrast.  The calcites have selective face coatings, are often double terminated and lustrous.  There is lots to take in regarding this fine piece so I will let the images do most of the talking.  14.5 x 9.2 x 8.5 cm.  Material internal to the opening is damage free and the edge contacts are no bad either.  A fantastic example of what I would believe most collectors would consider the most interesting and aesthetic material to come from this important find.  Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  $1,650

OKAA-050

OKAA-050    Calcite on Calcite coated Stalactites    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  A large (6 cm) double terminated calcite on the end of several parallel growth stalactites coated by smaller calcites.  Rich hematite staining adds nice contrast to the calcite so its complex nature can be better appreciated.  Backside has a tiny contact only a couple millimeters in size.  Front, sides, top all view as damage free.  6 x 5.2 x 2.5 cm.  Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  You'd have a hard time finding a dealer who would make the base for this price!  $250

OKAA-051

OKAA-051    Calcite on Quartz Casts after Anhydrite    Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  This type of specimen is what will eventually lead to the material from this quarry being a classic.  Numerous large casts which show openings so their interiors can be viewed.  A complex group measuring 7.5 x 6.2 x 4 cm.  Only a couple tiny (basically micro) points missing.  Excellent condition overall.  Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  $425

Base

OKAA-052    Calcite     Roncari Quarry, (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Large gemmy double terminated calcites growing on stalactites.  Interesting and aesthetic!  7.4 x 6.2 x 5.3 cm.  Only one minor contact on one end otherwise in great condition.  Some faces are slightly frosted, some are glass clear and of a higher luster.  Internally there are fractures but much of the crystal's interiors are clear.  Uncommon for the find and for the quarry.  Mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base.  $550
