OKI-662 Quartz on Calcite Roncari Quarry (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford Co., Connecticut. These two crystals, to 3.7 cm each form a “V” on a matrix coated by small white to clear calcites. The pieces measures 6 x 4.8 x 3 cm overall. The quartz are unusual for the locality, having an unusual growth feature on all the prism faces. It is almost like a stepped overgrowth of a second generation of quartz in epixaty. The overgrowth is milky and the terminations are clear. There is a tiny “Wilbur” on one termination. A very displayable piece which is the only one like it of which I am aware. 275$

This fine light green specimen is a botryoidal bubble (hollow) that is crystallized both externally and internally. All surfaces excluding bottom contact edges are damage free prehnite. OKI-669 Fluorite on Calcite Excavation for Feeder Canal, Queenston-Chippewa Power Plant, (Montrose Rock Dump), Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection, Harry Maines Collector, 1985. This excavation into the Lockport Dolostone resulted in a small number of fine specimens being produced in the mid-1980s. Until now, I have never seen one for sale. Field collectors tended to keep all their finds. With the latest purchase from Steve’s collection some of these specimens came into my possession. With the exception of the unique calcites the material is almost indistinguishable from the specimens from the Penfield and Walworth quarries (also, in the Lockport formation). To say this material is rare is the understatement of the decade! This specimen is a cabinet piece measuring 16.4 x 10.5 x 9.5cm and it is somewhat triangular in shape. It sits upright nicely and is composed of a partial vug lined with yellow calcites to 1 cm each. There is a 1.3 cm fluorite cube of a light purplish blue, almost clear, color on the specimen. It is gemmy and a beauty for any locale in the Lockport. The piece could benefit from some trimming but I like it as is so have not made an attempt of modify the piece. No damage. Exceptional. 250$

OKI- 515 Calcite Roncari Quarry (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut. 3.2 x 2.3 x 2 cm floater crystal with dark reddish brown hematite overgrowths. The overgrowths coat selective faces on this very complex crystal. I don’t think it is a twin, simply an odd shaped thing. Internally clear to slightly milky, no points of attachment, only some regrown faces and no damage. A quality piece. 40$

OKI-517 Calcite and Hematite Roncari Quarry (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut. A gorgeous 2 cm calcite sits on minor calcite coated matrix. The specimen measures 2.2 x 2 x 1.8 overall and is noteworthy due to the unusual bands of hematite thickly coating selective regions on some of the faces. Internally clear to slightly milky with bright rainbows indicative of a twinned crystal (which I see no further evidence of). Minor crystal contact on backside. Super views from all angles, high luster and a rare thing to have these odd, heavy metallic bands of hematite. 50$

OKI-519 Calcite, Prehnite and Quartz Roncari Quarry (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut. The calcites are white and very translucent, showing prehnite balls on their surfaces and as inclusions. They also exhibit odd selective surface hematite stains and phantoms which appear a light red in color. The clear quartz points also show the hematite coloration but not the selective patterning like the calcites. Very clean with only moderate edge contacts. No damage. Displays nicely. 3 x 2.7 x 2.2 cm overall. Excellent example. 35$
