Eric Edey Collection.  This is a great combination piece measuring 7.7 x 6 x 3.8 cm.  On the front side are large sphalerite crystals to 1.7 cm on edge.  Pyrites reach .7 cm in size and all crystals are lustrous well formed.  On the backside of this plate are dolomites to 1.8 cm in calcites to 2 cm each.  One of the calcites on the backside is cleaved off, but this represents the only damage to this floater.  And unusually complete mineral assemblage for this location.  $160

OKF-362

OKF-362    Fluorite on Quartz    Yaogangxian Mine, Hunan Prov., China.   A nice grouping of light blue fluorite cubes attached to a singly terminated quartz crystal with a slightly regrown contact end.  Two contacts/ damage areas in cube cluster.  Double terminated tabular quartz in the middle of the cube cluster too.  Stands on end.  Everything has high luster and good form.  7 x 4.2 x 4 cm.  $65

OKF-363

OKF-363    Chabazite with Laumontite, Calcite and Prehnite   Patterson, New Jersey.  Ex. Jim Turek Collection.  This interesting plate of crystals measures 9.5 x 9 x 4.7 cm in size and is composed of an attractive assemblage of pastel colored minerals.  The chabazite crystals dominate the piece and are exceptional.  They measure to 1 cm on edge, and along with the other minerals, are on white/ clear calcites.  Minor green prehnite and small white sprays of laumontite at even more character.  A fine display piece which sits on edge for display.  $120

OKF-364

OKF-364    Weloganite    Upper Sill, Francon Quarry, Montréal, Québec, Canada.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This is probably the largest weloganite crystal to come from Steve's Francon quarry collection.  The primary crystal measures 3.9 cm has been reattached to the nicely trimmed section of matrix.  The lower termination has a small area of attachment but the rest of the crystal is very clean.  The backside of the crystal is open to the vug is contained within.  So even though it looks to be embedded in its opening, it sits up nicely outside of it for viewing.  If this crystal was slightly better formed it would be a museum great specimen.  Because it is somewhat crude I have a bargain basement price on this extremely rare piece.  Weloganite crystals are almost never this large and very seldom on matrix.  Very desirable, displayable and rare.  $450

OKF-365    Diopside and Albite (var. Antiperthite)   Rose Road Locality, Pitcairn, New York.  Collected by Scott Wallace, Summer 2006.  This group of highly lustrous crystals measures 4.5 x 4.1 x 3.6 cm overall.  There are four primary crystals in the cluster, all of which are doubly terminated.  There are two small attachment marks on the backside of the piece which will never be visible when displayed properly.  I worked all summer in 2007 at this classic location in seldom found pieces this clean.  This one is among the best miniatures to be found from this site and few will be released to the public.  This is an excellent one to grab up at this price.  An fine miniature for $65.

OKF-366    Diopside and Albite (var. Antiperthite)   Rose Road Locality, Pitcairn, New York.  Collected by Michael Walter, Summer 2006.  This group of highly lustrous crystals measures 7.2 x 5 x 3.6 cm overall.  There are several beautifully formed albite crystals to 2.7 cm each as well as numerous poorly formed ones composing the matrix of this specimen.  The diopsides are to 3.7 cm each and in decent form.  They are best viewed from the back of the specimen but some stick out above the albite crystals for a nice color contrast.  I worked all summer in 2007 at this classic location in seldom found pieces this clean.  A couple contacts mostly to the back of the specimen.  Very seldom are the albite crystals from this locality so well defined.  A fine, very displayable, small cabinet specimen….. $70

OKF-367

OKF-367     Schorl, Albite and Quartz    Teston, above Shigar, Balistan, Northern areas, Pakistan.  Wow!  What a beautiful display specimen contrasting the white color of the albite crystals on the black tourmaline.  All of this fits nicely on double terminated quartz crystals.  Minor basal contact is present but doesn't show when displayed correctly.  Viewable from all sides including the back where there is a small area damage near the termination of the tourmaline.  This is extremely minor in no way distracts from the quality of this superior display specimen.  The piece measures 7 x 4.2 x 3.9 cm overall and the tourmaline is 4.4 cm tall and 2.7 cm wide.  Superior form, condition and color contrasts make this a superior piece.  Mirror like luster which is not evident in the photos.  $270

OKF-371

OKF-371    Calcite    Shippensburg Quarry, Southhampton, Cumberland Co., PA.  These fine gemmy calcites are up to 2.6 cm each in length, twinned, double terminated and complex in form.  The piece measures 5.3 x 4.5 x 3.3 cm and shows only minor damage and contacts to two crystals on the parameter of the specimen.  It is a very displayable cluster.  $40

OKF-372

OKF-372    Spodumene   Vittoria da Conquista, Brazil.  This crystal is all gem material, and is a light yellow color.  The piece measures 8.2 x 1.3  x .6 cm.  It is highly etched and shows minor internal fracturing.  Too thin to cut into substantial gemstones, this specimen is well suited as a display piece.  No damage.  $65

Nice!!

OKF-373    Pyrite Bar    St. Joe Lead District, Missouri.    Ex Anthony P. Dunn collection.  Now here is a really serious specimen for the collector of classic American minerals.  This specimen measures 13.5 cm in length it is 6.7 cm wide and its base.  It averages approximately 4 cm in thickness and is fully terminated on all sides including its base.  There is a single minor white dolomite crystal which is the only accessory mineral present.  The bar is very stable standing on end for display and is slightly curved in form.  I can't say enough about this piece’s rarity and aesthetics.  It is one of those amazing pieces which is seldom seen in the mineral market especially in large damage free pieces like this.  There is another collection number on the base of the piece but my guess is that this specimen was mined in the mid-1970s.  They don't get much better than this so I suspect this one should go fast even though it's an expensive piece of pyrite.   $1600

OKF-374

OKF-374    Diopside    RESERVED     Orford Nickel Mine, near Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Previously in the Carlton Davis collection.  This is one of the nicest diopside crystals that I have ever seen from this find.  It dates back to the early 1980s and it has all the exceptional qualities of the finest crystals from this location.  This one measures 8.3 cm long 2.1 cm wide and 1.8 cm in depth.  The lower back and side show a contact from another crystal.  This translucent beauty has the highest of luster and is damage free.  It's a pleasure to hold what has to rank among North America's finest diopside crystals.  A fine piece like this would be an absolutely stupid price on some websites.  I believe a fair price is $350

OKF-375

OKF-375    Wulfenite (dipyramidal crystals with pinacoidal terminations)    San Juan Poniente, Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Mexico.  It's funny to hear other dealers talking over the past year about these unique looking wulfenite crystals.  They make it sound like they've never been found before whereas this one likely dates back to the early 1970s.  No matter its age it is an exceptional display piece which also has a mix of what appears to be clear to white calcites and a good deal of yellow and brown micro- mimetites?  The wulfenites are both single and double terminated and up to 1.6 cm in length.  I can only find a couple with the aid of magnification which show damage.  One small area contact on backside.  To the eye this piece is exceptionally clean and viewable from all sides although the photos do it no justice.  The price is well below what specimens of this size from the new find are running.  This one sits beautifully for display and measures 7.5 x 5.5 x 4.4 cm.  Excellent luster, form and aesthetics to these crystals.  $300

OKF-379

OKF-379    Cerussite    Tsumeb, SW Africa.  Ex Anthony P. Dunn collection. Most of this beautifully formed sixling twin is present on a small piece of matrix.  The specimen stands up beautifully for display and measures 5.7 x 5 x 3.4 cm over.  The crystal exhibits a medium to high luster has zero damage.  The cerussite is translucent to gemmy and wonderfully form.  An excellent specimen which is better in person.  $650

OKF-381

OKF-381    Quartz Scepters    Blair Hill Farm, Greely, Ontario, Canada.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Previously in the Dr. George Robinson collection.  Dr. George Robinson collected this piece in 1978.  Of the many thousands of Herkimer diamond like quartz crystals from this region that I have inspected, this is only the second that I have ever seen which exhibits a sceptered habit.  The primary pair of crystal have deep black stems which are short and were once in contact with the dolomite matrix.  The crystals have beautiful smoky tint and some internal rainbows.  The largest crystal has a tip ding but even with this the specimen is still important.  The crystal show slightly skeletal development to their surfaces yet are still well formed.  This is a fine example of Canada's version of the Herkimer diamond scepter.  $200

OKF-382

OKF-382    Anhydrite Cavity in Quartz, Barite and Malachite    Cheshire Traprock Quarry, Cheshire, Connecticut.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Previously in the Herb Obodda and John Albanese Collections.  Four specimen tags are included with this piece documenting its fine province.  The specimen measures 9.9 x 8.2 x 5 cm overall.  The vug is composed of low luster crystals and casts totally lining the geode like opening.  The backside of the specimen has been sawn flat.  I see no damage to any the crystals or casts composing the specimen.  And very nice New Jersey piece with a great history.  $175

OKF-384

OKF-384     Sphalerite     RESERVED    Santander, Cantabria, Spain.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Previously in Elmer Rowley collection from the New York State Museum.  Elma Rowley biography can be found in that May/ June, 2008, volume 83, number three, issue of Rocks and Minerals magazine.  This is a very good example of a zoned cleaved from a huge sphalerite crystal.  Much of it is gem quality and it measures 7.2 x 6 cm and it is 1.7 cm thick.  The piece is not backlit in the photographs.  Classic material with a wonderful providence.  $75

OKF-385

OKF-385    Vanadinite    Touissit Mine near Oujda, Morocco.  Here is a very cool piece which came out in the early 1980s.  The color is very unusual.  The crystals are a light green color with terminations of a whitish green color.  The crystals are up to .8 cm in length and diameter.  The specimen is mineralized on almost all sides with the exclusion of the small area of base and overall it measures 6.1 x 3.9 x 3.6 cm.  It is damage free.  A very displayable and interesting piece.  $300

OKF-386

OKF-386    Diopside on Garnet    Val d’ Ala, Piedmont, Italy.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Previously Ward’s.  Here is a European classic which has a centerpiece gem diopside measuring 2.1 cm on cinnamon red garnets.  The diopside shows the whitish veil internally with the exception of the termination area.  The termination is slightly abraded up but overall in very good condition.  Some of the other crystals are complete, some are partial near the base of the specimen.  Collected back in the old days when no one seemed to care if the specimen number was glued to the display face of the piece!  This fine piece is perfectly trimmed, well-balanced and displays beautifully.  My guess is the new owner may want to remove the specimen number.  $275
