The Jeffrey Mine near Asbestos , Quebec, Canada has produced some of Canada's most aesthetic and desirable mineral specimens.  Some of the species such as the diopsides, garnets, and vesuvianites are gemmy and of facet grade.  Combination pieces are showy and usually expensive.  Small specimens are our specialty and we have numerous outstanding examples obtained mostly from purchased private collections.

Dr. Steve Chamberlain Collection.  This attractive piece is coated on one face by tiny transparent, high luster, green crystals.  The piece has spots where there are missing crystals so the price is modest.  It measures 5.4 x 3 x 2 4 cm.  Great color.  30$

Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This single terminated crystal measures 3.7 cm in length.  It has the high luster, deep striations and gemmy..... typical of this wonderful material.  The crystal is singly terminated and free of damage.  85$

OKI-273      Copper and Vesuvianite in Calcite   Jeffrey Quarry, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada.  Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This specimen was figured in Rocks and Minerals Magazine (55: 187, figure #4).  “YES..COPPER!!”  This 7 cm cleave of white calcite has a small vein of copper running through one of its edges.  On the top of this vein is a fully exposed copper wire in the shape of a letter “C” flanked by a couple of gemmy green vesuvianites.  The wire is approx. .5 cm across. This is an important piece, obviously, if it was figured in Rocks and Minerals, and should be a fine addition to someone’s Jeffrey suite.  395$

Dr. George Robinson.   This nice thumbnail is composed of two crossing vesuvianite crystals which have green bodies and purple terminations.  They are translucent and striated as is typical for the locale.  The piece measures 2.5 x 2 x 1.6 cm overall and has no damage.  It displays great from the sides and front.  Matrix contact on back and base.  100$

Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  Green to gold colored crystals of clinochlore are embedded in long thin gem vesuvianites.  These stand up off of a massive and crystalline vesuvianite matrix.  Specimen measures 3.5 x 3 x 1.8 cm and is mounted in Styrofoam base of a perky box.  65$

Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  1.7 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm cluster dominated by a single 1.4 cm grossular.  The cluster views well from all sides with the matrix contact being only on its base.  Transparent with some internal fracturing and a wonderful cinnamon color.  95$

OKF-212    Vesuvianite   Jeffrey mine, Asbestos, Québec, Canada.  Ex Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  This specimen is one of the best pieces adductor Chamberlain found on is collecting trips in the late 1970s.  This piece is composed of two large crystals in close contact.  One crystal measures 4.5 cm and the second one which crosses it measures 3.0 cm.  The crystals are in gemmy in areas, especially their surfaces and well terminated.  The base of this piece is well is all other surfaces have regrown crystal faces.  An outstanding display specimen from this locale .   $350

Dr. Steven Chamberlain collection.  3.2 cm crystal found by Steve in 1979.  This fine example is gemmy with a typical amount of internal fracturing.  It is a rich green color, exceptional for its luster and perfect in its crystal form.  The backside of the crystal is encrusted with more tiny gemmy vesuvianites.  A nice piece for sure.  125$
