OKN-777      Galena and Chalcopyrite     RESERVED       Madan Rhodopi Mountains, Southeast Bulgaria.  Ex. Harold L. OKM-210

Base

OKM-210      Quartz cast after Calcite    Droujla MIne, Laki Deposit, Rhodopi Mt., Bulgaria.  Ex. Harold L. Dibble collection.  Attractive, white, high luster quartz casts with yellow tips.  The tips of cast appear yellow because inside they are filled solid in those areas with another mineral that has a yellow cast to it (possibly dolomite).  Interesting and far more attractive in-hand that my images indicate.  No damage.  $150

OKM-119

Back

Quartz

OKM-119    Galena, Chalcopyrite, Sphalerite, Quartz     Madan Rhodopi Mts., Bulgaria.  One broken cube on edge, sits nicely on this area, otherwise a floater.  Displays from any direction great.  Measures 6.7 x 5.5 x 4 cm.  Cubes are up to 3 cm on edge, have octahedral modifications, and hollow faces with nice growth hillocks.  Really nice example of some of the rarer galenas.  $160

OKM-814

Bottom

OKM-814    Rhodochrosite    Starnitsa Deposit, Davidkovo, Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria.    Ex. Harold L. Dibble collection.  This large plate of rhodochrosite measures 14.5 x 13 x 6.5 cm overall.  The balls of crystals are in two generations, the first forming casts after an unknown mineral and the second, of basically the same attractive pink color, being deposited on them.  The bottom shows the casts well and only one hollow area appears on the display surface exposing a cast.  Both interesting and aesthetic.  The base also is crystallized with pyrite and galena.  Zero damage to this big specimen is a real plus.  A wonderful rhodo.  $2,300

OKL-558

OKL-558   Sphalerite, Galena, Quartz, Pyrite    RESERVED     Madan Ore Field, Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria.  An outstanding mix of minerals with superb form and an aesthetic arrangement.  The galena shows spinel law twinning and the accessories are nicely distributed.  The yellow sphalerite in great but mostly on what I would call the back of the specimen (as easily could be the front).  All side nice and is damage free.  Sits up good for display and look fantastic from any side.  5.5 x 3.8 x 3.4 cm.  Very high quality.  $85

OKL-559

OKL-559   Spinel Law Twinned Galena     RESERVED     Madan Ore Field, Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria.  Another fine piece with attractive twins sitting up high and on edge amongst a garden of quartz crystals.  6.4 x 4.5 x 3.8 cm.  The twins are very aesthetic, complex and of nice luster.  Not all lumped together like is often the case with this material.  The crystal separation is certainly a bonus for anyone wanting a good look at this unusual morphology.  No damage.  $50

OKL-560

OKL-560   Sphalerite and Galena      RESERVED       Madan Ore Field, Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria. Attractive large cubes of morphed galena with circular growth hillocks dominate.  The reach 2 cm on edge on this 7.5 x 5.5 x 4 cm piece.  On these are wonderfully formed tetrahedrons with minor modifications, some of which sit up high off the galena.  Great piece with no damage.    $55

OKL-561

Back

OKL-561   Sphalerite, Quartz and Galena    Madan Ore Field, Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria.  A beautiful plate of yellow, gemmy sphalerites to 1.2 cm each on white quartz and minor galena matrix.  It measures 6 x 5 x 1.8 cm overall and is a damage free floater.  Great luster and overall aesthetics.  I think with most dealers this would command a much higher price but I think it will find a home fast at… $75

OKL-562

OKL-562   Sphalerite    Madan Ore Field, Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria.  For a sphalerite from this prolific location this one is certainly exceptional.  It measures 8.2 x 5.5 x 3 cm overall with two distinct generations of translucent sphalerite.  There is one pin head sized micro ding that is not easily noticed so it isn’t “perfect”, but it is as close as it could be.  Fine luster and the aesthetics are impressive.  Displays great from any view.   $150
