OKE-407

OKE-407    Diopside and minor Albite (var. Antiperthite)    Pitcairn, New York.  Collected by Michael Walter, 2006.  Good specimens from this site are few and far between even though the site has been active since the mid-1800s.  This piece is composed of two nice diopsides to 4.3 cm each which each have one nice clean termination and one extremely crude termination.  This big, translucent, high luster crystal has a crust of secondary diopside on one side and minor quartz pseudomorphing on its base.  This is an excellent miniature with nice aesthetics and no damage.  75$

OKE-414

OKE-414    Calcite on Prehnite    Prospect Park, New Jersey.  Ex. Jim Turek Collection.  I don’t tend to carry much NJ material in that it is uncommon to find great material at a decent price…here is an exception.  Gemmy prehnite of good color with clear to white calcites in two generations.  An aesthetic display which stands up nicely two different ways for displays.  7.8 x 6 x 4.1 cm.  95$

OKE-419

Back

OKE-419    Diopside and minor Albite (var. Antiperthite)    Pitcairn, New York.  “Lunch Break Pocket” Collected by Michael Walter, 2006.  This pocket will be well documented in future literature.  Good specimens from this site are few and far between even though the site has been active since the mid-1800s.  This piece is composed of a 6.2 cm double terminated crystal and other smaller ones of fine luster and form.  Albites are poorly formed as well as backside of specimen.  Front side offers a fine display which shows what some of the best New York State diopsides look like.  An example wothy of a top collection of East Coast Classics.   220$

OKE-330

OKE-330    Galena, Calcite, Dolomite and Chalcopyrite    Sweetwater Mine, Missouri.  Ex. Michael Walter Collection.  Great specimen of high luster composed mostly of cubes modified by octahedrons.  One highly octahedral crystal of slightly lower luster.  Embedded gemmy yellow crystal of calcite and other minerals in minor for,  Cubes reach almost 5 cm each.  9 x 6.6 x 5.5 cm overall.  No damage.  Great specimen!  250$

OKE-329a

OKE-329    Barite    Bartow Co., Georgia.  Ex. Nancy Collins Collection.  Wonderful display piece with acicular barites to 2.5 cm each in sheaths on top of brown matrix rock.  4.1 x 3.4 x 3 cm.  Zero damage even where the crystal extend beyond the matrix!!   155$

OKE-346

OKE-346    Schorl on Feldspar    Nyet. Braldu Valley, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan.  I find this specimen to be extremely aesthetic for a number of reasons: the color contrast and luster are obvious…less obvious are the several forms of terminations some of which are crude, some fibrous, some crisp and clean.   The piece has superb balance in form.  There may be a couple of terminations on small crystals with damage but I think these are all actually natural terminations, just poor ones.  I’m pricing it as if it was badly damaged although it certainly is not.  A fine display specimen.  6.4 x 5 x 3.6 cm.  210$
