Purchasing large quantities pays off at Tucson. I purchased many boxes of this old reliable material this year, as in the past. It sells out every year in smaller specimens so I thought I would offer some of the bigger matrix specimens this year. These are nice quality specimens, most with multiple cubes in matrix. They draw lots of attention and are a fine value.
These are beautiful display specimens which show pyrites, most often in perfect cubes, perched in high relief on a kaolin like matrix. The matrix is soft yet durable. It should not be soaked in water, however. These fine specimens are always attention getters whether at a mineral show or in your display case. They are all well represented by their photos so will require little in the way of individual descriptions. All are damage free, larger than typical pieces offered by other dealers, often composed of multiple cubes, and of the highest display grade. Almost all view equally well from any direction.

Description: Enormous plate with a dozen cubes to 2.5 cm each. 33 x 22 x 8 cm overall. No damage or missing crystals. Fairly even dispersal of crystals. Impressive. Much bigger than one seen at Albany show with cubes that are slightly smaller and better arranged on plate. $600

OKH-547 Pyrite Navajun, La Rioja, Spain. This attractive display piece is composed of two interpenetrating cubes measuring 1.3 and 3.8 cm on edge. There are two other cubes in close proximity measuring 1.3 and 1.5 cm each. All the crystals sit up high on the matrix. The specimen is very clean with the big cube having two tiny scrapes that do not distract from the overall impressiveness of the specimen. Mirror like luster and minor surface striations. Specimen measures 12.8 x 8 x 6 cm overall. The matrix might benefit from some trimming but I like it as is so have not broke off any of the lower areas. Nice views all around. Exceptional. $500

OKH-547 Pyrite Navajun, La Rioja, Spain. This attractive display piece is composed of two interpenetrating cubes measuring .8 and an enormous 4.5 cm on edge. Huge cubes like this one are pricy but so impressive that when displayed with other fine mineral specimens, they like to dominate the show. The dimensions are 12 x 11.3 x 8.4 cm. There is a tiny back edge craze but no distracting marks. Fine luster and nice surface textures. This is a big, heavy, substantial specimen. It sit nicely (better than the image indicates) and is a fantastic thing when you hold and evaluate it in person. Well exposed and highly aesthetic. $600

It sits up high on the matrix, is beautifully formed, has high luster, no damage and the specimen even sits nicely for display. A really fine moderately large cube. $140

OKF-479 Pyrite Navajun, Spain. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection. This cluster is composed of four cubes to 1.4 cm on edge. The stack is aesthetic and measures out at 3.3 x 2.1 x 2.4 cm. The crystals are perfectly formed and of the high luster one expects from the best material from this locale. The smallest cube has a tiny chip on a single corner which is not distracting. A great quality, affordable, thumbnail specimen. 35$
