March 2018 Update

OKP-392

OKP-392     Calcite     Prison Quarry, Jamesville, New York.  Ex. John Davis collection.  This unusual calcite measures 6.2 x 4 x 2.6 cm.  There are numerous twinned crystals on matrix.  Several crystals have small but noticeable burses.  $30

OKP-393

OKP-393    Copper     Element, Arizona.  Ex. John Davis collection.  This fine grouping of well formed, and in some cases branching, crystals measures 6 x 2.7 x 2.1 cm.  Looks to have been cleaned so that is a drawback but still a fine, damage-free specimen.  $75

OKP-394

OKP-394    Siderite on Quartz and Sphalerite    Chihuahua, Mexico.  Ex. John Davis collection.  On this specimen we see water clear quartz capped but translucent, light yellow, lustrous siderite crystals.  The specimen measures 5 x 3.7 x 3.7 cm.  The crystallized areas are all damage-free but matrix show some decay.  $25

OKP-395

OKP-395   Quartz and Calcite     Newport, New York.  Ex. John Davis collection.  This is an unusual location.  The piece measures 5.5 x 4 x 3.3 cm.  It is a small vug with calcite and a typical quartz on dolomite crystals.  The larger quartz crystal is clear with minor incusions of anthraxoilite... the unusual thing is it is tabular.  No damage.  An unusual specimen for the quartz collector who likes oddities.   $50

OKP-396

OKP-396     Rhodochrosite, Calcite, Quartz, Actinolite     Chihuahua, Mexico.  Ex. John Davis collection.  This piece is a fine floater with lots of interesting crystallization on water clear quartz crystals.  Rhombs of quartz on this piece are being pseudomorphed by rhodochrosite creating casts.  The specimen measures 4.5 x 3.1 x 3 cm.  Minor Styrofoam is attached on one spot on base.  The cluster is very aesthetic, interesting, and damage-free.  $120

OKP-397

OKP-397     Celestine      Chittenango Falls, Madison County, New York.  Ex. John Davis collection.  For this long closed location this represent an exceptionally large single crystal of celestine.  There are several natural contacts from other crystals but no damage.  It measures 4.3 x 4 x 2 cm is a medium blue color, has a low to moderate luster, is doubly-terminated and is color zoned, as seen.  Minor blue mineral tac on back of piece.  $60.

OKP-398

OKP-398    Celestine     Dolomite Products Quarry (Penfield Quarry), Penfield,  Monroe County, New York.  Ex. John Davis collection.  For a western New York quarry collector this is the rare specimen to get.  It is composed interconnected, water clear celestines attached to one another by quartz plates and small stalactites.  Some areas appear to be casts but I am not sure of this.  The piece measures 6.6 x 4.7 x 2.8 cm overall.  It is a floater but a couple of small natural contacts can be seen on close inspection.  Damage-free.  $140

OKP-399

OKP-399    Witherite on Witherite casts after ?        Cave-In-Rock, Harden County, Illinois.  Ex. John Davis collection.   As can be seen here a single crystal of witherite rests among casts of witherite after an unknown species (likely calcite).  The crystal is beautifully formed, very translucent and lustrous for the species, and damage free.  It sits nicely for display and is damage-free.  The crystal is 2.5 cm in diameter and the piece measures 4.7 x 4.2 x 4 cm overall.  Minor blue mineral tac on base.  This is as nice a witherite miniature as can be found.  $550

OKP-400

OKP-400    Cuprite on Copper     Bisbee, Arizona.  Ex. John Davis collection.  This specimen shows tiny gray to red/gray crystals of cuprite totally coating a branching copper specimen.  It measures 5.6 x 3.4 x 2.6 cm.  No damage.  Classic locality.  Some Styrofoam on base to remove.  $80

OKP-401

OKP-401     Cobaltite     Espanda, Ontario, Canada.  Ex. John Davis collection.  These are partial cubic crystal in matrix, as seen.  4.5 x 3.5 x 2.6 cm.  $40

OKP-402

OKP-402     Eritherite      Cobalt, Ontario, Canada.  Ex. John Davis collection.  A small vug can be seen on the display face of this piece with a druse of purple/ pink crystals of this uncommon species.  No damage to this 3.7 x 2.5 x 2 cm piece.  $40

OKP-403

OKP-403    Annabergite     Cobalt, Ontario, Canada.  Ex. John Davis collection.  This rare species is seen here as an alteration coating and micro crystals on the surface of nickel ore.  The piece measures 6 x 4.5 x 3 cm.  There is also a light purple druse of eritherite.  $25

OKP-404
