Rutile Pseudomorphs after Brookite on Albite after Quartz Pseudomorph  

Magnet Cove, Arkansas

These mineral specimens are classics from the famous Arkansas mineral region of Magnet Cove. The brookites are high luster, well formed crystals. Brookites from Magent Cove are a North American classic.        Most of the brookites from this classic site at Magnet Cove, Arkansas show growth hillocks on their surfaces.

Nice examples from this classic U.S. location.  Seldom seen on the mineral market today these specimens are from a find made in the early 1970s.   All show well formed brookite crystals, pseudomorphed by rutile, many with highly developed growth hillocks on ½ or more of the crystal faces.  The crystals have great metallic luster but the growth hillocks sometimes make them appear duller than they really are.  All are on quartz which has been altered to albite.  Tough to get material at a very reasonable price.
