Herkimer Diamond Scepters Treasure Mountain, Little Falls, NY.   Three summers of field collecting Herkimer diamond scepters allowed me access to some of the best specimens to ever be found at Treasure Mountain. Having spent those summers swinging a 20 pound sledge hammer has brought me to the reality of how rare these pieces are.  To say these specimens are rare is an understatement.  We have recovered approximately 2,200 pockets in our professional work and less than 20 had scepters within them.  Only two of those pockets had exceptional specimens.

Rocks and Minerals Magazine did a great job of showing us some very nice specimens.  If you or someone you know are in the market for a rare and attractive piece, one of these could be the best investments you ever make.  They are expensive for their size but they are impressive when seen in person.  Great examples from this locale are almost never available for purchase due to their rarity.  My photography will not do justice to any of these fine pieces.

Check out other sites or dealers that carry Herkimer Diamond Scepters (there are only a couple) and you will find the largest selection here.  Please keep in mind that just because we have a healthy number of these specimens to offer, it doesn't mean that we, or for that matter anyone, has great numbers of these.  I have spent years intensively searching out specimens.  They have been acquired mostly from my contacts with other field collectors, commercial purchases from the Treasure Mountain operation when they were mining, and some have been purchased from private collections.  This site has now been closed to the public for several years and there is no indication that it will be opening in the future.   Don't forget to check out the  Article  on this site published in Rock and Gem Magazine.  Also, a Field Collecting Review can be found on this site which overviews our collecting efforts.

Read our book on these important crystals and how to mine them...

OKD-819

OKD-819    Herkimer Diamond Scepter   Treasure Mountain Mine, Little Falls, New York.  This scepter is a fine 4 cm example which has moderate skeletal form and a rich black stem.  It is in excellent condition having zero damage and it exhibits a fine classic form.  Not quite a floater but almost.  It appears that the majority of the base is regrown.  A fine specimen for Treasure Mountain.  300$

OKD-821

OKD-821    Herkimer Diamond Scepter   Treasure Mountain Mine, Little Falls, New York.  Another great damage free specimen.  This piece measures 5.1 cm and is double terminated.  I was told there is a repair to this one but I think that is a mistake.  I find it to be perfect even under high magnification.  375$

OKD-825

OKD-825    Herkimer Diamond Scepter   Treasure Mountain Mine, Little Falls, New York.  Here is a 3.3 cm scepter with more than just the usual form.  The large moderately clear cap has several black stems exiting its base.  There is some basal contact from matrix and anthraxolite and no damage to the specimen.  This piece is very unusual in that it displays vertically without aid.  This is due to the diverging stems at its base.  A real rare plus for one of these specimens!  270$

OKD-826

OKD-826    Herkimer Diamond Scepter   Treasure Mountain Mine, Little Falls, New York.  A beautiful smoky 4.9 cm crystal with a minor stem which is mostly internal.  The stem has minor basil contact.  Minor skeletal form to the faces and internal openings.  Attractive and unusual.  180$

OKD-488

OKD-488      Herkimer Diamond Scepter     Treasure Mountain Mine, Little Falls, New York.    Here is a strange mix…three double terminated scepters which have intergrown in a pleasing form.  3.8 x 3.5 x 1.8 cm overall size.  Two caps are quite clear and one is more heavily included by anthraxolite. This is an almost floater with on scepter stem showing an partial (and small) old matrix attachment.  Poor depth of field in the photos makes the stems difficult to see in these photos.  Sorry.  An impressive little specimen with lots of character.   400$
