Herkimer Diamond Mineral Specimens, Page 2

The majority of these specimens are from Treasure Mountain in Little Falls, NY.  Top quality pieces mostly recovered over the past decade by myself. There is a lot of variety in the specimens from these locations: combination pieces with calcite, parallel growth clusters, intergrown groups, inclusions of anthraxolite, fine skeletal growth crystals, Herkimer diamonds on dolomite crystal matrix, internal shaft scepters and of course those beautiful and very rare fully formed scepters. I won¹t describe the dozens that are white, have some damage, major blowouts discolorations or other problems. No junk here.

These are nice specimens for the price. Of the hundreds (perhaps thousands) of Herkimer diamonds I have sold over the years, not a one has ever been returned or mention to me in any negative way by a customer. I attempt to keep the price at what would be considered by most a wholesale level.  Sorry about the less than perfect photos.  Of all the minerals we work with these are probably the toughest to get good photos of.

Read our book on these important crystals and how to mine them...

OKK-139    Quartz (variety Herkimer Diamond)    Treasure Mountain Mine, Fall Hill, Little Falls, New York.  Collected by Michael Walter, summer 2002.  A nice example of once not uncommon material.  Now with the site being closed it is uncommon to see these specimens.  This one measures 6.8 x 6 x 4.4 cm and is a skeletal crystal with black stems at its base.  It is not in the classic scepter form because the stems have been overgrown by the skeletal crystal.  Still a nice damage free quartz from the Herkimer diamond region of New York.  $175

OKJ-705

OKJ-705    Herkimer Diamond    Crystal Grove Mine, near Lassellsville, Fulton County, New York.  Collected by Michael and Jay Walter August 28-30, 2012.  This is one of those large and fine pieces that I usually reserve for my own collection but we need to pay for the summer’s collecting efforts.  There are numerous large crystals to 3.2 cm each.  As is usually the case here the matrix is coated by quartz druse which helps to really make the crystals jump out at you.  It measures 13.4 x 7 x 7 cm.  The crystals are gemmy to moderately so.  One missing crystal low on base, one crystal has a small rub that is not noticeable and there are several areas with minor contact.  All of this is natural.  These things said the condition is excellent for this material and the piece is substantially large with crystals that are also large and nicely displayed.  The base is perfectly trimmed for display.  Nicest piece from a three day dig.  Well priced at $400

OKJ-439    Herkimer Diamond with Enhydro   Crystal Grove Mine, near Lassellsville, Fulton County, New York.  Collected by Michael & Jay Walter, August 2012.  This crystal is a single with one tiny rider crystal measuring 2.5 x 2 x 1.7 cm.  There is a two phase enhydro (liquid and gas) with a nice round bubble measuring at least .2 cm.  It is clearly visible due to the crystal’s unusual clarity.  No damage.  Tiny contact on bottom with matrix and other crystals but readily evident or in any way distracting.  This is the only enhydro we have found in the past two years of hard digging at this locale.  A very rare thing for Crystal Grove.  $95
