Chinese Stibnites
The stibnites of China rival the best in the world, including the monsters from Japan, and are easy to find at reasonable prices. Every year seems to find a new batch of fine stibnite specimens coming from China to eager customers here in the states and elsewhere in the world. The rarity in the stibnite world is not as much about size as it is unusual mineral associations. Specimens of stibnite in combination with barite, calcite, fluorite and other mineral are very uncommon and highly sought after.

OKH-526 Calcite and Stibnite Xikuangshan Antimony Mine, Lengshuijiang County, Loudi Prefecture, Hunan Province, China. We have seen a fair number of the specimens over the past six or seven years. Almost all have been damaged, and/or, heavily oiled. This year I was able to purchase for fine specimens that are in good condition and not heavily oiled to hide their flaws. This first one measures 6.5 by four by 3 cm overall. The largest calcite is slightly over 3 cm. There are several intergrown calcites that are extremely tabular and gemmy. This specimen is a damage free floater that displays beautifully. $225

OKB-487 Calcite and Stibnite Near town of Lan Tan, Guangxi Prov., China Limestone matrix holds a large golden calcite (4.5 cm). Perfect stibnites with spectacularly well formed terminations (to a cm each) jut out in various directions. Some of these stocky stibnites are nicely branched. Some are even double terminated. Whitish yellow, double terminated secondary calcites also adorn the limestone. These have nice phantoms within them as well. 8.4 x 5 x 5.2 cm overall.
